About Louise Jenner
Why do I do what I do?
Hi, I’m Louise Jenner. Would you like to know a little more about why I do what I do?
Well, I know what it’s like to fall out of love with your job and to feel like your career is going nowhere! I’ve been there, done that and now I want to help you through it too. I love helping you to identify your dream job or business and sharing my experience so that you have the skills, capabilities and resources to get out there and make it happen. It’s all about working with you to move from frustration to fulfilment in your professional life.
Having worked in management for many years, I read thousands of cv’s and interviewed hundreds of candidates for a wide variety of jobs. I know that I will have screened out some potentially good people who didn’t know how to present themselves properly on paper, online and at interview. I couldn’t gamble my company’s money on someone who “might be ok.”
Now, I share my knowledge and experience with you so that you don’t keep getting screened out and fobbed off.
I am passionate about helping you achieve your goals and aspirations for a great career.
When I left school, I had no idea what I wanted to do and I was so envious of friends who did. They seemed to have it all worked out but I did know one thing; I knew I would be successful at something and, I knew I could communicate with people from all walks of life. I fell into various part-time jobs that collectively you might call “Sales.”
Some of the products and services I have sold in my career? Animal feed, Alcohol, Bakery produce, Rainbow Trout, Chupa Chups (yes, the lollies!), Frozen Gateaux, Cleaning Products, Hotel rooms, Christmas Parties, Insurance and Furniture.
I have moved millions of pounds worth of goods and services over the years! This involved serving many thousands of customers and helping them to make the right buying choices for them.
People Hire People They Know, Like and Trust.
One of the most important lessons I learnt was that people hire (or buy from) people they know, like and trust. Your CV is an advertisement for YOU! At interview you need to do the best sales job ever and to get the all-important job offer, you need to sell YOU!
I love working with career-changers who have come to a point in life where their priorities and circumstances have changed. This is probably because I went through this process myself, after 17 years with the same company. It took me 4 years to make the overnight decision to quit and you can read the full story here.
Although I made my own decision to change my life, you might have the decision made for you. Maybe you’re facing redundancy or you just know that, deep down, you don’t want to do what you’re doing now for the rest of your life. Whatever the reason, we can work it out!
Career coaching could be exactly the support you need to help you through this transformational time in your life.
But, what if your dream job is not to have a job?
Some of my clients discover that they’d really like to work for themselves. In fact, nearly 50% of my clients are freelancers, work-from-homers or business-owners. Helping you start your dream business and mentoring you for success is something I adore. One of my clients says that it can feel lonely, working on your own. Her monthly business coaching sessions keep her motivated and on track. She can tell me anything.
None of this is selfish, by the way. When you’re not in your dream job (or business) it affects other people as well as you. They know you’re unhappy and they worry about you. When you love what you do, your positive energy radiates out and touches everyone you come into contact with. So, although it might feel scary to take this step, remember; everyone around you will benefit from you being happy at work.
Work / life balance
This is me doing what I love, when I’m not coaching. Although I lived in Gloucester for nearly twenty years, I’m a Devon girl and, now that I’m home, I like nothing more than spending time with my husband, Steve, my family and friends and of course, with Reuben, our English Springer Spaniel. (Dream Dog!)
What would you do more of, if you were in your dream job?
