About Louise Jenner

Hi, I’m Louise Jenner. I’m known as The Dream Job Coach and I’ve been providing career and business coaching to clients all over the UK since 2013.

I hope it’s reassuring for you to realise that I know what it’s like to become frustrated at work and to feel like your professional life has stalled.

Life’s way too short to be doing something that you don’t absolutely love for a living, wouldn’t you agree? There are so many other things you could be doing!

In my mind, your dream job is the one that’s right for you, right now. And… if you’re not in your dream job, you’re in someone else’s!

As we progress in our working lives, our circumstances, goals and aspirations naturally change. What was right for us in our twenties and thirties might not still be so as we enter our forties, fifties and beyond.

From trout farming to furniture...

My early career was in hospitality and was quite eclectic. I even had a stint working as a Trout Farmer and Bakery Manager in my family’s businesses! By my mid-twenties, I had landed a fantastic job with dfs furniture and I went on to carve out a management career with them that lasted over 17 years. I learnt such a lot there and enjoyed the fact that I was their first-ever female manager.

My experience with small firms and large companies has benefits for my coaching clients. I know how employers think and what they really want from their people and for their customers.

I also understand the stress and pressures that employees feel as they try to climb their chosen career ladder because I’ve been there and done that. I ignored the signs for a long time and in 2012, I managed to slip a disc while sitting in my ergonomically designed office chair! Having returned to work before Christmas that year, I soon picked up the pace again.

A tree fell on my head...

You can read the full story here but ‘spoiler alert’ it took a tree falling on my head in May 2013 to make me stop and think about what I truly wanted.

I could have died that day and it occurred to me that if I had, I’d have been remembered as the woman who sold sofas and didn’t have much time or energy for anything else. Not much of a legacy, huh?

These days, I run my coaching business, online, from my home office in Devon, near where I was born and grew up. I enjoy a great work/life balance that allows me to be around much more for those I love the most.

How I can help you...

The Dream Job Coach

Coaching helps when you are feeling frustrated at work...

Work is a HUGE part of our life and it forms a BIG part of our identity, doesn’t it? That’s why, as your online career or business coach, I believe it should be energising, fulfilling, rewarding, purposeful and FUN!

It’s really important to get clear about what your dream job (or business) really looks like because when you’re a bit vague, that comes across in your job applications. It causes procrastination and it affects your confidence.

Short enough to read in your lunch break and it’s packed with tips and information. I wrote it to help you work out what your dream job really looks like and how you can get out there and make it happen!

You have to network, to get work...

It may sound cheesy but it’s true, you have to network to get work whether you are in business, working freelance or looking for a new job. Here are a couple of groups that I organise in Devon, Laptop Friday and Devon Women In Business

I recommend that you look out for events near you to attend in order to start developing your own professional network. If the prospect of networking feels less than exciting, remember, coaching can help you to increase your confidence when meeting new people.

Championing freelancers and working from home

On Friday mornings you’ll usually find me hosting the coworking group, Laptop Friday, upstairs at Café 3 Sixty in Bovey Tracey. I love meeting freelancers working in all kinds of businesses and other people who normally work from home. It’s an interesting and refreshing way to end the working week.

Laptop Friday - Bovey Tracy, Devon

Laptop Friday is one of my favourite coworking events in Devon. I host it every Friday morning from 9.30 to 12.00. You’re welcome to join us if you’re working from home, whether you’re an employee, a freelancer or a business owner.

Devon Women In Business

My other passion is championing women in the workplace and I lead the local networking group, Devon Women In Business. We meet for monthly networking events and celebrate with the annual DWIB Awards which are generously sponsored by many local businesses.

Featured Podcasts

I love talking about all things related to careers and business development so when my favourite podcasters invite me on for an interview, the answer’s usually a yes!

Here’s a selection of interviews that I hope you’ll enjoy and find useful.

Recently, I was the Guest in the Shed with Alison Theaker and Ann Hope…
